MFH3 Technology

Fiber is the way of the future. Whenever possible, DirecPath is deploying Fiber To The Home (FTTH) type technologies based on native Ethernet standards capable of delivering either 100Mb or 1000Mb (Gigabit) to the home. Across these networks, DirecPath is now leveraging it's years of expertise in delivering triple play (IPTV, Data, Voice) over Ethernet combined with the support and backing of DIRECTV to deploy MFH3 into leading multifamily communities in it's portfolio.

DIRECTV and Thomson have partnered together to develop and offer an exciting new satellite distribution technology for the MDU and Commercial marketplace. Multi-Family Housing version 3 (MFH3) enables delivery of all DIRECTV programming and services using existing in-building wiring, such as Ethernet CAT5e, CAT3, and Coaxial cable plant. It supports all current and planned DIRECTV programming and services, including Ka-band high definition programming, ensuring an outstanding user experience for today's MDU customer.

The MFH3 system uses DIRECTV Receiver hardware and enhanced software features to enable support for DIRECTV services. At the center of the platform is the MFH3 Gateway technology, which converts DIRECTV signals into industry-standard IP video packets, for delivery to IP-enabled DIRECTV Receivers. The Gateway has many features that enable efficient and near error-free delivery of DIRECTV programming, with the flexibility to easily upgrade services as new features are developed. Offering DIRECTV distinguishes your property from the rest. DIRECTV is the number one satellite provider in the world, offers 100% digital picture and sound on every channel, and has had higher customer satisfaction ratings than cable seven years running. In 2008, DIRECTV will be offering  150 National HD Channels via the MFH3 platform.
